Many people
have similar questions. Here are a few of them:

1) What if I
need bypass heart surgery in the future, will I need these veins?
These diseased varicose veins cannot be used for a cardiac bypass
graft. Only healthy competent veins can be used for the bypass
surgery.
2) How
successful is vein ablation?
For
patients who follow all pre and post procedure instructions, the
success rate is 93-95%. This is much higher than surgical
stripping.
3) After
treatment for my venous insufficiency, will I ever have to worry
about visible veins again?
You
might. This is why we like to see you for yearly follow up. If any
new veins form, we can treat them much easier when they are small.
Because of your genetic predisposition to varicosities, we encourage
you to continue to wear a light weight compression stocking whenever
you are on your feet for long periods of time.
4) After the
vein is closed, where does the blood go?
The
blood is redirected to the deep system. This system is very
efficient in returning blood to the heart.
5) How common
is vein disease?
Approximately 50% of adults over the age of 50 have vein disease.
